As I begin to explain these words, their concepts and their meanings, I would like to use the acorn, and how Consciousness and Awareness govern and implement the new life for this acorn, as my example.
An acorn begins its journey as a small bud on an oak tree. With that bud something else is also born. This ‘something’ cannot be seen or touched. It is inside that acorn, and it is the unseen forces that contribute to that acorn’s journey. It is Universal Consciousness and Awareness.
Now, let’s move forward in time. The acorn has developed throughout the spring and summer and now fall has rolled around. Life and life’s expression begins to change that tree and the acorn. The leaves begin to fall and eventually the acorn falls away from its Creator, its Source; the tree itself. This is where things get interesting. Transformation of some sort begins to happen to the acorn. No matter where the acorn has landed, this transformation takes the acorn into a new expression of life. It is this quality of transformation and what governs that transformation that we will focus on during this discourse. You see, inside that acorn is the Consciousness of knowing how to be during its evolution. Inside that acorn is the Consciousness to know how to grow roots, to become a sprout and ultimately become a tree. The Consciousness of the acorn knows how to grow bark, grow leaves and grow even more acorns. The Consciousness of the acorn knows how to shed its leaves in the fall and grow more leaves in the spring. Consciousness knows…! There is no effort needed to know, the ‘knowing-ness’ was born with the acorn. This is one of the great mysteries of life!
There is another quality that is also born with the acorn and that quality is Awareness. I define Awareness as “to be aware; to be knowledgeable of the ultimate cause and effect.” Awareness deciphers, interprets, analyzes. The mind does something very similar; however, the mind also adds judgment to the mix. Awareness does not judge anything. Awareness just simply deciphers, interprets and analyzes the situation at hand, and relays the information or data collected to the Consciousness of the acorn. It is at that point that transformation begins for that acorn.
