Being concerned or caring what someone thinks about you is the beginning of a lot of undue stress; it has the potential to rob you of a lot of peace! I cannot stress enough the misery you are calling to yourself if you try to please everyone, or even most people. First of all, if there is anyone to please, it would be you. If others are pleased as you are self pleasing, then great, however and ultimately, it is none of your business what someone else thinks of you!
Let’s break this down. In other posts, I have explained that the mind is a conditioned mind. In other words, your mind is a product of what you have been taught, and your mind thinks the way it was taught to think. Therefore, if judgment is taking place, it is because the mind has been conditioned to judge. Ultimately this judgment is actually ‘second hand judgment;’ it has been passed down to the person that is presently doing the judging. Judging is one of the ways a person participates with the mind in a state of unconsciousness. I have said many times that unconsciousness wants more unconsciousness to come out and play with it. That being said, if you are concerned about what someone thinks about you, you are doing just that- playing with unconsciousness!
Let’s face facts: life is diversity; there are so many opinions, viewpoints, and perspectives out there in the world. Some people are going to agree with you and what you do and others are not. It would be a full time job to attempt to please most people, and it would be a job that never got completed.
When you are dealing with being judged about something, get in your awareness about it. First of all, recognize that the person judging you is in a state of unconsciousness. It is going to be real easy to judge them right back; this is why you want to be in your awareness. See it for what it is, and also remember, it is none of your business what someone thinks about you.
Again, begin to be so centered in Self that you are not affected by someone else’s judgment. Be so centered in your Godliness that you can stand so tall in your opinions and actions that nothing else matters. Think for just a minute about the greatest thinkers and motivators in our lifetime such as Martin Luther King or Gandhi (or even Oprah); what if they were concerned about what people thought of them?
