Listening & Understanding the Language of the Soul

I have spent this week writing about the Language of the Soul, hoping to bring awareness to you that it is not only possible and real, but that it is also quite useful and beneficial to the journey process. There is nothing mystical or esoteric about it, but rather one of the ways in which the game was set up, as well as one of the ways in which Spirit supports us along the way. You do not need a middle man to tell you what Spirit is saying to you. As a matter of fact, the middle man may confuse the message with their interpretation. Ultimately the message is for you, why not become fluent in the language and listen for yourself. Listening yourself is the basis of today’s post.

As I said in earlier posts, both the Universe and the Soul speak to you through our intuitions, feelings, insights and impressions. I think that the first step to understanding this unspoken language is by paying attention to how the body feels, and the subtleties that encompasses. First, it helps to have an understanding that the body feels things in three manners. The first is the obvious one; where you do something to the body and you feel the effects of that happening (you strain a muscle, you accidently kick something, you burn yourself, etc.). The second is the feelings in the body that the thoughts of the mind have created (thoughts create the feelings of fear, love, anger, sadness or happiness). Last but not least, the body will have sensations that will tell you if you are in the flow of life or not. For example, when you are floating in the flow of life, there will be a sense of peace and effortlessness. When you think you know better than the flow of life (the ego), you will have a sense of resistance. When you are going against the flow of life, you will have a sense that things are taking a tremendous amount of work to get anywhere. The body never lies! The body and its messages will tell you a tremendous amount of information about you, the process you are taking, and your relationship to the process. So, let’s talk about ways and some methods in which you can tune in, and not only receive the on-going messages, but also ways you can begin to understand the messages.

As I mentioned in the post, “The Language of the Soul,” the mind has a hard time understanding this language because it has not been taught to the mind, and the mind often gets in the way of the message itself. Therefore, most of the techniques that support you to listen and understand the messages involve a practice of meditation and living meditatively.

When you mention meditation to someone that has never done meditation, there is a belief system that says they have to be able to ‘clear the mind’ to be able to meditate. That is the farthest thing from the truth. Clearing the mind is not something you can force into existence; however, the mind does clear on its own over time, as you begin the process of learning you do not have to engage with the mind and its random thoughts. Meditation is observation. Observe the mind, the thoughts that the mind is throwing out, and begin to see that you do not have to engage or participate, even though the mind wants you to do just that. As you begin to observe the mind, you also begin to observe the body and how it feels in relation to the thoughts that the mind is having. As you begin to observe the body, you will begin to see the subtle but yet obvious differences between the different sensations the body is having and where they are coming from. (Remember what I said in the earlier paragraphs about the body feels in three different ways.) Once you begin to see the differences, you can decipher where they are coming from. If it is the mind, be attentive, but do not buy into it because the mind is coming from a very limited perspective. Observing the mind, observing the feelings that it is creating, and observing the body and its sensations will tell you the source of the sensations. Once you understand the source of the sensations, you will begin to realize what is truly worth the effort of paying real attention to, and the messages that are coming with those sensations.

I realize that this sounds rather esoteric, but it is not; it is simply different than what you have been taught. In my experience, the things that I mention in the above paragraph seem to flow naturally from a consecutive meditation practice. It appears that it is almost a natural by-product of meditation. If you want assistance beginning or deepening your meditation practice, visit our meditation page and try the free guided meditation.

This article is getting quite long, so let’s stop here. Let this soak in, try it for awhile, and I will continue with other posts. Just remember how awkward you were when you began anything really new (like driving); it was awkward! Over time, though, you began to relax, and things began to fall into place. It is the same with meditation. You have to start and be ok with the awkwardness. It will change, and the changes are sooooooo supportive, if you let them be.

Much love, much meditation, and let the Universe support you!

Taking the time and making the investment in ourselves to learn to hear and listen to the Soul and Divine Guidance is one of the greatest gifts I believe we can give to ourselves. These guidance can become the rudder to help navigate the game of life with assurance, calm, balance and deep sense of rightness in our choices.
I remember “Thinking” that I was never going to be able to learn to be a watcher of my thoughts and the mind, I would never be able to find enough stillness to hear my own guiding. With practice and patience I have learned to be in the stillness, to hear and listen and when I do this there is a natural, easier flow to life. It is worth the time and the effort and the continued awareness to be able to live and make choices from other than the limited capacity and conditionings of the mind. Peace and blessings. Ma Ina
