Yesterday, I began talking about Why I Chose To Be A Life Coach. To continue on that same thread; it did take some configuring to come up with the life coaching. I knew I wanted to help people but conventional therapy just did not seem to cut it. Only working on someone’s mental state was not going to work for me; I wanted to work with someone as a full package. So, I was lead into ministry. I knew that if I got ordained, that would allow me to do ‘my type of therapy’ or I should say the type of therapy I was interested in doing. Then, I came across the term ‘life coach.’
There are many different types of Life Coaches, from general life coaches to business life coaches. Personally, I wanted to approach coaching from a total package perspective. I do not believe the coaching is complete until every aspect is looked at; body, mind and soul. There are some common threads to my approach within my coaching practice. These teachings are a combination of philosophies, taken from Eastern Philosophy, Basic Psychology and Quantum Physics. However, the blending of these concepts and philosophies lead you to one basic philosophy; the concept of “Oneness.”
The dictionary defines Oneness as the quality of being united into one. However, the definition does not describe the impact of this concept when embraced as a living foundation that operates with you throughout your life. Oneness is a spiritual truth that has been taught in many different spiritual and scientific principles. Even though it has been taught by many philosophies, many of these same philosophies ask you to ascribe to concepts that are based upon fear, need, requirements and conditions that are not congruent with the concepts of Oneness. These concepts of fear, need, requirement, etc. are very much a part of the human mind and can keep a person from living the concepts of Oneness.
I also believe that it is a great support to understand the mind; how the mind is created, how it operates, and to understand why it works the way that it does. Once you begin to see this and have a greater understanding of this natural occurrence within everyone’s mind, you can then begin to use your mind as the Divine tool that it was meant to be rather than being used by the mind and allowing the mind to run your life.
An integral part of the type of life coaching I do is to begin a personal journey of self reflection, self understanding and self awareness through meditation. Humans have used meditation and prayer since the beginning of time. When used consciously, meditation reduces stress, builds the immune system, and allows us to experience a greater sense of well-being. Meditation also allows the meditator to observe what is happening within their thought processes; to observe those thoughts and then realize that those thoughts are often creating a life of fear and/or separation. Once those thoughts are recognized one can choose to withdraw from actively participating in those thought processes.
Meditation, being based in the principle of acceptance, also allows the meditator to stop engaging in the victor/victim, superior/inferior, win/loss and me against them mentality, which ultimately resides within the mind. When this behavior subsides, the meditator begins to operate in and through life differently. The meditator is not governed by fear, and this ultimately has an effect on his or her well-being as well. So, the meditator may begin to meditate simply to feel better physically and mentally, and as this continues, the thought processes that created this behavior seem to disappear and life begins to look and feel better to them. Meditation also reminds us of the importance of focus. When one has a clear and clean focus, one becomes the master of the ship known as the mind. When one becomes the master of this ship, then he can direct this ship into any port one wishes. This is the act known as “Conscious Participation and Conscious Creation.”
Oneness is not a philosophy but rather a lifestyle. Oneness is an understanding that we all come from One Source (irrespective of what you may call this Source), and we are united as Spiritual Beings, regardless of our perceptions of separateness. Human and social conditionings have created a division between races, religions, sects and social statuses that have supported our humanness to believe that we are separate, that my God is better than your God, that I am better than you or that I am less than you. It has created a society that is separated between the ‘have’ and the ‘have-nots.’ This belief system ultimately leads us toward war, conflict, power struggles and fighting. Like oil and water, the concepts of Oneness and the belief in separation cannot mix, no matter how hard you attempt to make them do so.
It is our human, conditioned mind that creates this belief in lack, separation, superiority or inferiority. When one begins to embrace the truths found in the principles of Oneness, all fighting, struggles and conflicts seem to fade away. One begins to understand that fighting of any kind is futile, simply because you understand that you are only fighting with yourself.
Allowing these understandings to have their natural effect on your life, one can learn how to live harmoniously and play well together while enjoying life as well as being enthusiastic about life and its unfolding. Also these understandings allow you to move into a place of acceptance of what is and to transcend our belief in human limitations, requirements and conditionings.
Life Coaching from these perspectives will definitely support you across the game board of life. Life Coaching allows you to have and use the psychological and spiritual tools for relating to yourself and others in a new way: openly, lovingly, and authentically. If you are interested in life coaching, you are invited to contact me. I would be happy to have a consultation with you to talk specifically about you and your situation and to go over how these concepts can fit into your life. I hope this gives you a greater understanding of life coaching and the type of work that I do. I have enjoyed sharing this part of myself with you.
Much love and namaste
