Have you read the headlines recently? It is a bunch of doom and gloom; the economy is in the toilet, your future is in question, the things that you were told you could rely on in old age are now not as reliable as you were told they were going to be, etc. etc.
I have spent this week talking about life and death, or more specifically not living life because you are attempting to avoid death. It is no wonder that we do this. With such an over-saturation of doom and gloom in the media, we not only attempt to avoid death, but we also attempt to avoid life. If you are like most people, you are inundated with a constant flow of bad news. Even if you are not one of those people that watch the news for this very reason, you are still going to come in contact with other people that do watch the news, and bring that ‘funky energy’ in the room with them. So what do we do about this?
Turning off the news is a start, but other than that, there is nothing to do! Rather than doing anything, it is about a state of being. It is a natural state of being, a state of being beyond the mind. It is a state of being that exists beyond what the mind says, thinks, or believes. It is a state of being that realizes that there is nothing to be protected from. It is a state of being that knows that building for the future is a game that we play with ourselves and if we choose to play, we do not take it seriously. It is a state of being that embraces this moment of NOW!
Have you ever heard of the man that has one foot on yesterday and the other foot on tomorrow, and he is pissing on today?
Even before I became ‘spiritual,’ I was never a news person. Even in my 20’s and 30’s, I ‘felt’ like if it was important enough for me to hear it, then the news would find me. Some thought it was rather naive’ of me. About 3-4 years ago, one of my clients asked me, “What if something were to happen and you didn’t know about it?” My response was, “Well, if I don’t know about it, how is it, or how could it, affect me?”
It is not about being an ostrich with his head in the sand. It is about realizing, knowing, and living, expressing that you and Existence create your reality, and that it does not matter what someone else’s reality is, it is not going to negatively effect your reality, or create suffering in your life! This is not a new reality, it is a reality of choice, a reality of awareness. It is a reality that many have lived, and experienced. Prisoners of war that have been tortured but did not suffer. Prisoners of war that realized their freedom existed even in imprisonment. People that have lost everything and found themselves in the process. There are many examples of this type of living.
Yes, cutting off the TV, or at least turning off the news is a start, but only a start. The real work/change is going to happen inside of you. You may think that the problems that you face come from things happening around you, and affecting you, but ultimately it comes from the way you interpret what is happening around you. The problem arises in the mind. The problem arises from believing you are the mind. The problem arises from ‘stinking thinking.’ The problem arises from taking things seriously. The problem arises believing the illusion is real. The problem arises when you buy into the concepts of time and not living in your Now. The problem arises from no Self Awareness.
The question of your existence may appear to come from an outside source but the answer lies within.
