The Ball Is In Your Court

Let’s pretend that you have something major going on in your life, a conflict with someone or just too much happening, stillness and/or no activity is sometimes the best approach.

Let’s say for example, there is drama going on. The drama has been going on for a while now; balls are being batted back and forth. The ball is in your court, the mind is engaged, and the body is full of emotion. Stop, let the dust settle and once it has settled, then and only then decide what, if any, is going to be your next move.

Now think for just a minute about yourself sitting on a bank over a river. You are peering over the side and trying to look at your reflection in the water. However, because the water is choppy from all the rocks and pebbles being thrown in the water (the drama that has been going on), you are not able to see your reflection. Stop throwing stuff in the water, stop all action. Sit and be still, and over time, the water will calm and you will be able to see yourself.

If you want to see your undistorted reflection, your authentic reflection, not some distorted figure of the ego, sit and be still. Do you realize or are you aware that no action can still be the best action to take?

I know from recent experience that this is much easier said than done. The mind wants to fight, to be right and to win. The belief systems say, like a bully on the playground…you are a sissy, coward, yellow belly if you do not confront your enemies! When all along, there is no real enemy, just ego that loves that drama!!!!
I have done this both ways. I must admit, most of my life I got ont he brain train and chose to fight. But in my awareness I have decided to try a new route and be still, let the dust settle and wait for that reflection. So far I must say it has been a much smoother ride then the fight ever was.
