In much of my writing I mention ‘becoming aware of something’ and ‘having Awareness.’ I separate the two because there is a vast difference between those two concepts, and I would like to discuss those in detail. I will do so through a comparison because even though they are similar in nature, they are also very different.
Becoming aware of something is when the mind has become familiar with, or alerted to something. Having Awareness is a state of being that is beyond the mind, and is also based upon a knowledge that transcends the mind, and will often go beyond the limitations of the mind. Let’s break this down even more…
When you become aware of something, you (the mind) has just become conscious of that thing. You (the mind) has just become familiar with something; the mind (you) has become wise to or acquainted with something. This something could be a tangible (touchable) thing or something intangible. The subject matter is irrelevant, but what is relevant is that the mind has just become ‘in the know.’ This awareness can change as the subject matter changes or evolves into something else and as the perceptions of the mind change. Since this awareness is mind-based, this awareness is as transient as the mind.
Awareness (with a capital ‘A’), or having Awareness, or being Aware, is a state of being that exists from the eternal nature of things. Awareness arises out of your connectedness to Source Energy, your beingness, and the information is timeless or absolute. As Awareness arises, the information will travel through the mind to be interpreted and translated but did not start in the mind. Awareness, similar to the mind, interprets, analyzes, and deciphers the situation, but it does these things without labeling it or judging it as good or bad, like the mind would.
The closest way that I can describe this attribute of Awareness is through a question. Haven’t you ever KNOWN something without having known how you knew it, but you knew it just the same?
When someone or something has become aware of something, they have perceived, or interpreted what is happening around them. Awareness (with the capital ‘A”) is very similar but much larger in comparison; it is global or all encompassing, rather than being from a limited capability, judgment, or perspective of the mind. For example; because of Awareness, I am aware of the mind, and I am also Aware that I am not the mind. If this Awareness was not there, and as I continued to listen to the mind, I would say that I think those thoughts, therefore I am the mind. Because of Awareness, I am Aware of the body, and I am also Aware that I am not the body. I am Aware that I (Existence) uses the body as a vehicle to move through life, but I am not the body. Because of Awareness, I KNOW that I will never die. I KNOW that the body and the mind will eventually cease, that I (Existence) will eventually drop this body/mind, but that does not mean that my existence will cease.
I (the mind) knows that this subject is esoteric in nature, and is hard for the mind to grasp or understand. That is typical, especially when you are first being introduced to these types of concepts. I would ask you to be open to this, as that openness is the beginning stage of experiencing the wonders of Awareness.
Why This Is Significant
Each species in nature has access to omnipotent Awareness, and it is this Awareness that supports them as they move through life. Since we are part of the species of nature, we too have access to this powerful force, but it is the human mind (and its power and control games) that obstructs the full use of this powerful force. You may ask, ‘if this force is so powerful, and it supports the movement through life, then why does the human mind obstruct it?’ The human mind allows us to do things that other species cannot do, and the blocking mechanism simply comes as part of the package. I also believe that having a mind, and using it supportively, and being open to the unseen forces that guide and support us is part of our natural evolution through life. Awareness is offered with our journey, it is a support as we move through life, but it is not forced upon us. After all, we do have the gift of free-will and free choice. Using Awareness is a support system, and not a necessity to move through life.
As I said, each species in nature has access to Awareness, and it supports them as they move through life. Allow me to use this as an example: As you see a severe storm brewing in the sky such as a hurricane or tornado, you turn on the news to find out what is happening and what, if anything, to do. As the storm is brewing, other things are also happening in the atmosphere besides the sky turning dark. Animals are Aware of these changes and begin to move accordingly. They have the Awareness to either take cover, or they have the Awareness to move to another area completely, and ride the storm out. You see, the Awareness in them interprets the atmospheric changes, they decipher what they ‘feel,’ and the analysis that is taking place naturally inside of them begins to give them the notion to move. This type of unseen support has guided all species since the beginning of time, and will continue to support all species throughout time. It is great that the mind has created computers, radars, and fast communication for these types of natural events; however, I KNOW that if we were to use the Awareness that is offered, along with these other types of technology together, we could truly soar to new heights. Haven’t you ever heard of someone ‘feeling’ that they were in danger and being able to move away from the danger before it happened? This, and other things like this, are Awareness. Sometimes it just floods in, and other times, it is a choice or a habit to not access this powerful support system.
Technology is amazing, and you will continue to be amazed in the growth of technology in your lifetime. I am not discrediting technology, nor am I discrediting the power of the mind, and its inventions. I am, however, crediting our natural, God-given support systems such as Awareness. I am a firm believer that we as individuals, and we as the collective, could evolve to new heights if we would begin to use all of our talents; the mind and its power to invent technology and Awareness together.
There is nothing mystical, new, elite, exclusive, or selective about Awareness. Awareness is not available to only the ‘selective, chosen few.’ Awareness does not exclude anyone, even though we habitually exclude or discredit Awareness. I first want you to know about it. I want you to know the ‘features and benefits’ of Awareness, and I want you to begin to be open to the messages and insights that Awareness offers. I want you to use Awareness for what it is, and what it is for. I have given you a few examples of how using Awareness can benefit you; however, the possibilities of how Awareness can benefit you are endless. A huge reason to begin to embrace Awareness is not only to escape danger but to live a peaceful life; a life that is free of labels that confine, and judgements that support us in our sufferings. AND, Awareness offers each of us a timeless, eternal wisdom that is far more advanced than even the most brilliant mind.
